Projects galore!

I’ve been spending my free time (or when I'm in conferences) crocheting. My spot (where I spend all day because my leg is still healing) is in a very busy part of the house and it’s loud. And I really want something brainless. After finishing Mr Seven’s blanket, I made one for my mother-in-law. I love this pattern and have wanted an excuse to make it.

The next blanket in line is my sister’s blanket. She had a peace corp rotation in Azerbaijan and really likes paisleys. She has a tattoo of multiple paisleys going down her entire side. The closest I could find was a peacock feather pattern. It also reminds her of the evil eye symbol she saw everywhere.

I’m making feathers and this is my progress thus far.

While playing around with making the feather, I noticed that the pattern could look like an avocado if I color blocked differently.

It’ll be stripes of avocadoes and the blue in between them. The colors remind me of Mexico. While I see an avocado, my mom sees an eye. Thoughts? Let me know what you see. I’m trying to think of ways I can make the blanket have more of a Mexican pattern and not an eyeball.
I'm not sure for whom I'm making this one. It's just sort of happening. (Who says "Oops! I accidentally made a blanket"?!?)

I’ve been quarantined since March 17. A friend sent me a picture of a crocheted Coronavirus and I found a pattern. The pattern is rather biologically accurate, thus it didn’t take much convincing to get me to make them. My goal is to make one Coronavirus every day I’m in quarantine.

What will I do with them? Glad you asked! Everyone in my department at the high school is getting one. I’ve already told them (they have little choice in the matter because I can leave them in their classrooms). I just need to see them again. I’m also planning on using them in my own classroom. My sister also wants a few for her friends. She calls them cat toys, which makes me die inside because they take over 2 hrs to make.

And I’m still not done!!! Someone I know wanted me to make one for her mom. Sure… So, she purchased yarn that I suggested and sent it to me. The pattern that I looked at used yarn that is much thinner than what I normally use. The hook I’m using is 3.75 mm. It’s sooo thin! It makes my hand cramp up. The square above is tiny compared to the one above. What this means is that instead of making 12 big squares and being done with it, I need to make 30. It took me 7 hours to make that square and it’s not done. This project is going to take forever!

Yes, I don't know much about colors but I thought they might complement the avocado. And be a similar shaped patch.
